Our Community Projects

Community Centres in the UK

We are dedicated to transforming agricultural land into a space where young adults with disabilities and special needs can flourish as skilled kitchen staff and chefs. We proudly support community centres that uplift underprivileged children and foster hope and opportunity.

Our inspiring sponsors, SKY, GSK, WIPRO, Metropolitan Police Sikh Association and Heathrow, have generously provided financial and employee support to revitalise these vital resources.

SKY and GSK host open days where children can engage with these organisations and discover the excitement of scripting in newsrooms, igniting their dreams for the future.

We partnered with Wipro and the Metropolitan Police Sikh Association to host inspiring outdoor events, enlightening our community about the vital support needed for children in our UK community centres.

In 2015, Sir Andrew Witty, the CEO of GSK, recognised our projects. He said, "I am honoured by the support and vision of the OK Charity initiative in aiding our communities. We stand behind your vision." Consequently, we were granted an award for our contributions to the development of community centres.

Rebuilding schools in Nepal

We are deeply committed to rebuilding schools in rural areas of Nepal, where support is often hard to find. With our dedicated team on the ground, we sought out schools that were in dire need of complete reconstruction and resources. Every child deserves a chance at a quality education, as they are the future of their communities, and we strive to nurture that potential.

One particularly poignant project was a school nestled high in the mountains of a remote village. When Professor Rajara Jasveer visited this school, she was profoundly moved by the conditions the children faced. Recognising their urgent need, she mobilised resources to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Previously, these children lacked basic facilities, having to walk ten minutes to find a place to relieve themselves. The classrooms were makeshift structures made from metal sheets, and the teaching staff consisted mainly of devoted volunteers from the community, with the government providing only one teacher. Unfortunately, the community is viewed as low caste—often referred to as untouchables—leading to a pervasive belief that they are undeserving of better opportunities.

In response to this injustice, Professor Rajara Jasveer helped rebuild the school, which now includes four classrooms, a kitchen area, a principal's office, and three new toilets. We continue to visit this project regularly to ensure that the community receives the support it needs. Today, the community proudly backs this school, awakening to the transformative power of education for their children. It’s heartwarming to witness this change and to see hope flourishing in the lives of these children.

Donating to orphanages in India

Professor Rajara Jasveer has devoted her life to the well-being of vulnerable children and families. For decades, she has visited orphanages, forming deep connections and working tirelessly to uplift communities and guide them toward a brighter future. Since 2010, she has helped send more than 3 tonnes of clothing to underprivileged families and children's orphanages in the mountainous regions of northern India.

Working alongside a passionate team, Professor Rajara Jasveer ensures that these much-needed clothes reach the families and children who truly need them. She invites families in the UK to contribute by donating only the clothing they would want for themselves or their loved ones. With the heartfelt principle of "Give as you would like to receive," she encourages donors to wash, iron, and fold their clothes, treating each piece with kindness and respect. It’s through this thoughtful approach that every item of clothing is delivered with care and love to those who need it most.
